INDIANA UPSETS 15TH-RANKED ILLINOIS

The Indiana volleyball team continued its impressive play at home with a four game upset over Illinois. The Hoosiers won 15-11, 14-16, 15-11, 15-9. Junior Ryann Connors lead the Hoosiers with a career-high 27 kills as Indiana hit .251 as a team.
After spotting Illinois a leads of 3-0 and 4-1, Indiana ran off nine straight points to take a 10-4 lead. Illinois made a run to cut the lead to 14-11 but Indiana was able to hold off and win 15-11. Sophomore Amanda Welter had eight kills and a .438 hitting percentage.
The second game saw the Hoosiers take leads of 6-1 and 13-9 before the Fighting Illini won 16-14. The third game was like the first as the Hoosiers came back from an 8-11 deficit for the 15-11 victory. Jen Magelssen tallied seven kills in game three to lead the Hoosiers.
In game four, Kristina Sanderson started the game off with four straight points, including a pair of aces. She finished the game with 73 assists and a season-high 16 digs. The Hoosiers were in control the whole game asìÊÝî0ly able to gìÂs close as 11-9. Magelssen closed the match with two service aces and ended the match with 15 kills and six digs.
Senior Melissa Rooney set a season-high with 17 kills and junior Erin Heimann added 14 digs. The win puts Indiana's record at 13-9 overall and 6-7 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers will host rival Purdue tomorrow night at 7 pm.
