CONNORS' NAMED AVCA NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Indiana outside hitter Ryann Connors was named AVCA National Player of the Week and Big Ten Player of the Week after leading the Hoosiers to wins over No. 15 Illinois and Purdue this past weekend.
Connors is the second player in Indiana history to receive AVCA honors. Julie Flatley was named National Player of the Week Sept. 29, 1997. Connors is also the second player to be named Big Ten Player of the Week this season as Amanda Welter was honored earlier this year.
Connors, a junior, averaged 6.9 kills and 3.3 digs per game with a .392 hitting percentage in the two weekend matches. In the upset of Illinois, she posted a career-high 27 kills and 14 digs and then improved those marks with 35 kills and 16 digs while hitting .500 against the Boilermakers. The 35 kills set a new school record for kills in a match.
Indiana, which has won four of the last five matches, will be on the road this weekend at Iowa on Friday and at Wisconsin on Saturday. Friday's match will be televised Sunday, Nov. 15 at 4 pm CST on tape delay. The Hoosiers (14-9, 7-7 Big Ten) are in fifth place in the Big Ten.
