INDIANA LOSES TO NORTHWESTERN
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's women's basketball team dropped it second-straight Big Ten Conference game Wednesday evening, losing 68-66 to Northwestern in Assembly Hall.
With the loss, the Hoosiers fall to 11-5 overall, 0-2 Big Ten, while Northwestern improves to 6-4 overall, 1-0 Big Ten.
The Hoosiers fought back from a 10-point half time defecit to take their first and only lead of the game 57-56 on a Kristi Green jumper with 7:50 remaining. From there, the two teams traded baskets until Northwestern's Megan Chawansky drove around a screen and pulled up for a 12-foot jumper with 5.4 seconds remaining to give the Wildcats a 68-66 advantage. Despite an Indiana timout and a last second driving shot by Dani Thrush, the Hoosiers were unable to send the game into overtime.
Cindy Kerns led IU with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Jill Chapman added 12 points. Leslie Shock registered career-highs of 25 points and 11 rebounds for Northwestern.
