SOFTBALL DOMINATES SEASON OPENER
Layfayette, La.-- Indiana University's softball team picked up their first win of the 1998 season with a 8-2 victory over Baylor at the 12th Annual Louisiana Classic. The Hoosier's record now stands at 1-0.
Offensively, the Hoosiers were led by Senior Monica Armendarez (SS). In four at bats, she earned three RBI, scored three runs, and picked up her first extra base hits with a home run and a double. Senior Trina Valencia (2B), Junior Khara Good(CF), and Freshman Jennifer Pullon (LF) went 3-4 against the Bears.
Freshman Jennifer Kniptash (P) won her first collegiate game. Her record is 1-0.
The Hoosiers next game is against the Southwestern Louisiana Lady Cajuns
Saturday, February 21 (1 p.m. EST). Play will continue for the Hoosiers
with a 3 p.m. (EST) contest in which they will again face Baylor.
Indiana will conclude play in the 12th Annual Louisiana Classic when they
face Southwestern Louisiana for a second time Sunday, February 22 (1 p.m.
EST).
