HOOSIERS FALL TO NO. 12 MARYLAND IN OVERTIMENo. 12 Maryland defeats No. 15 Indiana 8-7 in OT
Princeton N.J.- The No. 15 ranked Indiana (5-1-1) water polo team dropped a close one at the hands of No. 12 Maryland 8-7 in overtime at the Princeton Invitational.
The Hoosiers found themselves down 2-0 after the first period, but came back to within 3-2 at the end of the first half of play. The Hoosiers were down 4-3 at the end of the third, but stormed back to tie it up at 5-5 at the end of regulation. IU fought strong through the first overtime, but Maryland got the upper hand coming out victorious at the end of the sudden death second overtime.
Leading the Hoosiers was freshman Sheri Fagley with four goals. In addition to Fagley, graduate student Amy Pankoke, sophomore Megan Morgan, and freshman Kelly McKay each chipped in a goal a piece. Senior goalie Kate Toole recorded ten saves during the dayUs competition.
The final day of the Princeton Invitational is set for Sunday, March
1st. The Hoosiers will have two games as they battle No. 9 University of
Slippery Rock at 10:15 a.m. and the University of Villanova at 3:15 p.m.
