Hoosiers crush Columbia
Houston, Tex.--Indiana's men's tennis team notched its fifth win of the season with an easy 6-1 victory over Columbia in the Rice Invitational. The Hoosiers won at every posisition except number one singles, including a three match sweep in doubles, to up their mark to 5-4 on the season.
Gabriel Montilla, who has been the catalyst for the Hoosiers for much of the season, led the team once again with a pair of tough victories in singles and doubles. Playing at the number two slot, Montilla defeated Steve Millerman, 7-5,4-6,6-3, while teaming up with Derek Pope to win the number one doubles match 8-3.
George McGill found his way back into the Indiana lineup after several injuries had kept him sidelined recently and didn't dissapoint, defeating Ogidi Obi in straight sets, 6-2,6-2, at the number four spot.
The Hoosiers are back in action Friday afternoon with a 10:00 a.m. court time against West Virgina. The Invitational will continue through the weekend and will conclude Sunday night.
