Hoosiers double up 49ers
Long Beach, CA--Indiana's water polo sqaud upped its mark to 9-1-1 on the season today, defeating Long Beach State 6-3 in their own pool. The Hoosiers also improved to 2-0 on their west coast spring break trip after defeating Redlands on Tuesday.
The Hoosiers offense was alert and ready for action today, as they scored two goals in the 2nd quarter and threw in another three in the 4th stanza to ice the victory. After three state 49er goals Long Beach State tied the game at three with 5:11 left in the contest,but Indiana then scored three unanswered goals to put away the victory, 6-3.
Debra Simone led the Hoosiers with two goals while several Hoosiers each tallied a single goal. Kelly McKay, Sheri Fagley, and Kara Fellerhoff all scored a goal each, as did Meredith Cravens, who scored the go-ahead goal for the Hoosiers just after LBSU had tied the score at three.
Indiana's goalie Kate Toole was on her game, tallying 8 saves on the
afternoon, including three in the crucial moments of the fourth period.
Conversely, LBSU's Jill nuttall netted only one save all day.
