Hoosiers sweep West Virginia
Houston, TX--Indiana's men's tennis team continued to roll at the Rice Invitational, defeating West Virginia 7-0 to up its record to 6-4. The Hoosiers took all six singles matches in straight sets and swept the doubles as well.
Gabriel Montilla, playing at the number one spot for the second straight contest, defeated Mike Dektas, 6-1,7-5, and teamed up with Derek Pope to knock off Dektas and Walt Samora 8-2 at the number one doubles spot.
The Hoosiers got solid play throughout the line-up and that was no more evident than at the six spot where freshman Paul Jacobson stepped into the line-up for the second straight contestand breezed by Nate Crichton 6-0,6-0.
Scott Lippitt and Andrew Held continued their strong play at the number two doubles spot, defeating Ryan Shaffer and Ben Jacobs 8-2. Freshman Brenden Storey and sophomore Ricardo Jordan also played extremely well, knocking off James Kent and Irakli Tatishvili in a well-played 8-4 decision.
Indiana is back in action tommorow morning when they take on the host school, Rice, in an 11:00 am match up.
