INDIANA DROPS TWO SPOTS AFTER DAY TWO
Collier picks up second top five finish
Auburn Ala. -- After two days of competition at the NCAA Championships, the Indiana swimming and diving team fell two places to 21st overall. Two Hoosiers scored points today. Junior Mike Collier placed fourth in the three-meter and senior Rob Iglinski made the consolation finals and finished 12th in the 400 IM.
After finishing eighth in the afternoon prelims, Collier moved up four spots in the evening finals to take his second top five finish of the meet. He scored 536.75 points to reach the finals, then surpassed four divers with a score of 575.95 in the finals.
Rob Iglinski, swimming in his last NCAA Championship event, swam a 3:53.04 in the morning prelims. His time put him in 15th and qualified him for the finals. In the finals, he improved his time and position with at 12th place finish and a time of 3:51.90.
The other two Hoosiers in action were sophomores Ken Ackermann and Tom Davidson. Ackermann, making his first NCAA Championship appearance, swam in the 100 backstroke. His time of :49.42 was good enough for 30th place. Davidson failed to qualify for the three-meter finals. He finished in 27th place with a score of 455.20.
