HOOSIERS WIN IU/UK INVITATIONAL
Iglinski qualifies for NCAA Championships
The Indiana men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the last home meet by placing first in the IU/UK Invitational. The two day event was the last chances for swimmers to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The only Hoosier swimmer to qualify for the championship meet was senior Rob Iglinski in the 400 IM. He swam the medley in a time of 3:50.85. The time is not an automatic qualifying time, but it is fast enough for Iglinski to swim in two weeks in Auburn, Alabama.
The Hoosiers won the meet with a score of 168. They were followed by Purdue in second with 121 points, Kentucky in third with 113, and Cincinnati last with 16 points. None of the teams used all of their swimmers. Only the athletes that needed to make times competed.
The Indiana diving team will be in competition March 13-14 at the NCAA
Regional Zone Diving Meet. The meet will be at Miami University in
Oxford, Ohio. All five Hoosier divers have qualified in at least one
event. From there, the Hoosiers will be at the NCAA Championships, March
26-28, at Auburn University.
