HOOSIERS TO CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON
The Indiana women's golf team will finish up its regular season this weekend, April 18-19, at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City.
Tournament Data: The 23rd annual Hawkeye Invitational, April 18-19, will be played at the Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Ia. The 54-hole tournament will feature two rounds on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. and the final round on Sunday also at 8 a.m. The course is a par-73 that stretches 6,000 yards.
Hawkeye History: Last year's invitational was won by Ohio State with a three-round score of 907. The individual medalist honors went to Ohio State's Jessica Lucick with a total of 220.
The Field: (10) Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
The Hoosiers: Indiana will take on seven Big Ten foes in the Hawkeye in preparation for the Big Ten Championships, May 1-3, at Penn State. The Hoosiers have been one of the most dominant forces in the conference, easily defeating nine Big Ten opponents in the Indiana Invitational two weeks ago. The squad comes off a tie for fifth in last weekend's Liz Murphy Classic, the eighth top five performance in nine tournaments for the team.
The Players: While it is still undecided who will be representing
the Hoosiers at Iowa, the entries will come from a host of solid players.
Seniors Erin Carney and Jenny Gray and junior Michelle Hatfield have played
in all 26 rounds for the squad, combining for 18 top 10 finishes and two
tournament titles. Sophomore Sami Montgomery has also played in every round,
finishing in the top 20 in the last two contests.
