ELOMS AND SUPERNAW AGREE TO NFL CONTRACT TERMS
Bloomington, Ind. -- It was announced today that former Indiana University defensive backs Joey Eloms and Kywin Supernaw have agreed to contract terms with the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions, respectively. They will both report to minicamps for their respective teams this week.
Eloms (5-10, 185), a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., where he attended Concordia High School, played in 11 games for the Hoosiers in 1997 (10 starts) and finished the year with 27 tackles, including 3 for loss, 3 interceptions, 8 passes broken up, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 forced fumbles. He finished second in the Big Ten with a 25.0 kickoff return average and played in the Blue-Gray, Hula, and East-West Shrine bowl following his senior campaign. For his career, Eloms appeared in 37 games (25 starts) and tallied 9 interceptions and 86 tackles. He missed most of the 1996 campaign after suffering a broken leg vs. Northwestern in the Big Ten opener.
Supernaw (6-0, 210) earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors from both the coaches and the media following the 1997 campaign. He finished his senior season with 85 tackles, including 3 for loss, 3 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble. A team captain in 1997, Supernaw played in the Hula Bowl following the season. A native of Skiatook, Okla., he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M J.C.
Eloms and Supernaw join seventh-round draft picks Victor Allotey (Buffalo Bills) and Chris Liwienski (Detroit Lions) as Indiana players who will attend NFL minicamps this week.
