INDIANA SECOND AFTER FIRST DAY OF NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPSJenny Gray in third overall
Madison, Wis.--After the first day of competition in the NCAA Championships at the Madison Ridge Country Club, Indiana women's golf team sits alone at second place with a total of 284 (-4). Arizona State, the 1997 Champions, have the lead after shooting a 277 (-11). Duke and Florida are tied for third, followed by Arizona and North Carolina tied at fifth.
Individually, the Hoosiers were led by Jenny Gray. Gray shot her career best of 67 today, good for five-under. She currently is in third place behind Grace Park, Arizona State, and Jenny Chuasiriporn, Duke.
The second place Hoosier, Sami Montgomery, shot her career best one-under 71 to grab a tie for 12th. Not far behind, Jennifer Seger tallied an even par within a group at 22nd. Erin Carney completed the first day with a two-over 74. Carney fell into a tie for 38th. Finally, Michelle Hatfield fired in an 80 locking a tie for 91st.
The Hoosiers will be back for the second day of the NCAA Championships tomorrow beginning at 12:25 p.m.
