INDIANA BLASTS LOUISVILLE 3-0
Bloomington, Ind.--The Indiana Hoosiers (7-1) men's soccer team defeated the Louisville Cardinals (5-2) tonight at Bill Armstrong Stadium 3-0 to lengthen their winning streak to four games.
The Hoosiers dominance was evident right from the beginning as Alexsey Korol scored at the 13th minute from Andy Parrish and Lazo Alavanja. The Hoosiers worked the Cardinals both offensively and defensively limiting the Cardinals to just two shots and no corners kicks-the lowest total of the season.
Coach Jerry Yeagley praise the all-around performance. He said, "I think our spacing was extremely good, our shape was good, and defensively we gave them one shot and no corners. What more could you ask for."
IU surged ahead of Louisville in the second half scoring two goals in less than two minutes both by Dema Kovalenko. In the 54th minute of action, Kovalenko kicked a six-yard shot in from Alavanja and Korol. Only 1:11 later, he scored two yards further away on a assist from Korol.
"Good to see Dema on the back post on the left side. His passes are so good. Also he anticipates and finishes so well," Yeagley said.
The Hoosiers are back in action opening the Big Ten season Sunday as they travel to East Lansing, Mich. to play the Spartans. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
