HOOSIERS FINISH SECOND AT LADY NORTHERN; CARNEY CLAIMS VICTORYLafayette, Ind., The Indiana University women's golf team wrapped the Lady Northern Golf Tournament with an impressive third round and a second place finish. The Hoosiers began the day in sixth place, seven strokes back of the leader Ohio State. But today, much like last season, the Hoosiers finished strong.
IU - 951 (318-325-308) fell just four strokes short of victory as Michigan State - 947 (322-319-306) held them off. Second round leader Ohio State 958 (315-321-322) finished up in fifth place after a disappointing third round.
Grabbing the individual honors was IU senior Erin Carney. Carney 225 (77-78-70) fired a one-under par 70 today to win by five shots over Purdue's Stacey Orschell 230 (77-77-76).
Freshman Tiffany Fisher, playing in her first collegiate tournament, finished in 12th place with rounds of 80-80-79 (239).
IU will next travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to participate in the Bama Fall Preview October 12-13.
