INDIANA HOSTS MICHIGAN AND MICHIGAN STATE THIS WEEKEND
This Week: The Indiana swimming and diving team will face a pair of Big Ten foes this weekend at the Counsilman/Billingsley Aquatic Center. On Friday, the Hoosiers will entertain the No. 9 Michigan Wolverines at 7 p.m. The last time Indiana defeated Michigan in a dual meet was Jan. 27, 1984. The Hoosiers defeated the Wolverines 67-46 in Bloomington.
Saturday, the Michigan State Spartans will be the visitors in a coed dual meet. Saturday's action is scheduled to begin at 12 noon. The Hoosier women's team will also host Iowa along with Michigan State.
Indiana's dual meet record stands at 6-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers have recorded wins over Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Iowa, Miami (Fla.) and Cincinnati. The also finished fifth at the Indiana Invitational in November. South Carolina won the invite with 760 points. Indiana tallied 580.5.
Schedule of Events: The two meets will follow the traditional
meet format. On Saturday, the women will have two heats in each event.

Speedo America's College Swimming Coaches Association's Top 25: As always, the Big Ten conference is one of the toughest in the country with seven teams in the top 40. Michigan leads the way at No. 9 followed by Minnesota (tied at No. 10), Ohio State (No. 21) and Purdue (No. 25). Penn State, Indiana and Wisconsin are all receiving votes.

Big Ten Championships: For the third year in a row, the Counsilman and Billingsley Aquatic Center will be the site of a Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championship. The men's Big Ten Championships will be Feb. 25-27 in Bloomington. In 1997 the men's Big Ten Championships were at Counsilman/Billingsley and last year the women's Big Ten Championships were in Bloomington.
NCAA Diving Zone Meet: Indiana will also be the site of the NCAA Regional Diving Zone Meet. It will be held Mar. 12-13 and the top qualifiers will move on to the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Mar. 25-27.
