IU FINISHES FIRST ROUND OF XAVIER IN TIE FOR 8TH
Cincinnati, Ohio - The Indiana University men's golf team competed in the first round of the Xavier Invitational on Monday. After the first round of play the team sits in a tie for eighth place with Cincinnati, shooting a score of 590(296-294). Michigan leads the field of 19 with a score of 573 (292-281), while the individual leader is Jim Herman of Cincinnati with a first day total of 136 (69-67).
Junior Steve Wheatcroft led the Hoosiers on Monday firing two rounds of 70 for a 2-under par score of 140. After the first day, Wheatcroft is in sole possession of fourth place. Senior Corey Sullivan also had a solid day, shooting a total of 144 (72-72) for a share of 13th place.
IU will look to move up in the standings as the final 18 are played Tuesday.
