INDIANA LOSES TO NO. 22 MINNESOTA
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Indiana's volleyball team dropped a four-game match on the road to No. 22 Minnesota 2-15, 15-9, 9-15, 9-15 Friday evening at the Sports Pavilion.
The Hoosiers (11-5 overall, 2-5 Big Ten) started off sluggish in the first game against the Gophers (16-3 overall, 7-0 Big Ten), but recovered to win the second. Indiana struggled offensively all night long as they only had 44 kills to Minnesota's 67. For the night, the Hoosiers had a .138 attack percentage due to the net play of the Gophers. Minnesota finished the night with 14 total team blocks which disrupted Indiana's offensive attack.
Senior Cydryce Carter came up big for the Hoosiers as she led the team with 15 kills, 10 digs, and a .355 attack percentage. Freshman Hillary Toivonen added 12 kills for Indiana.
"We struggled offensively all night long," said Katie Weismiller. "We started off sluggish and then came back, but we just let some easy ones get away from us in games three and four. Minnesota had 67 kills and we had 44 (kills). That was the difference in the match."
The Hoosiers will be back in action tomorrow night October 16 as they
travel to Iowa to play in Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City at 7 p.m.
