HOOSIERS HOST KENTUCKY AND OHIO STATE

Game Data: Number one-ranked Indiana (11-2-0, 4-0-0) hosts Kentucky (9-3-1) and 19th-ranked Ohio State (10-4-0, 3-1-0) this week at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The Hoosiers and UK play on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., while the IU and OSU match starts at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24.
Indiana Head Coach Jerry Yeagley...is in his 27th year at Indiana and is the winningest coach in collegiate soccer history. He has a career record of 468-82-37. Yeagley has led the Hoosiers to NCAA national titles in 1982, 1983, 1988, and 1998, 12 Final Four appearances and seven Big Ten titles.
Hoosiers In the Polls: Indiana remains number one in the Soccer America Top 20 and is now number three in the NSCCA/adidas Top 25.
Series vs. Kentucky: Indiana leads the overall series vs. Kentucky 11-1-0. Last year, IU won 5-0 in Lexington. Indiana is 5-1-0 in Bloomington. Overall, the Hoosiers have outscored the Wildcats 68 to seven. Kentucky's lone win over Indiana was 1-0 (ot) in 1995 in Bloomington.
Series vs. Ohio State: Indiana leads the overall series vs. Ohio State 24-0-0 with a 10-0-0 mark in Bloomington. Overall, IU has outscored the Buckeyes 70 to 10. Last year, Indiana defeated Ohio State 1-0 (ot) in Columbus.
A Look at the Wilcats: After starting the year 4-3, UK has since posted a 5-0-1 mark. Lee Baker is the team's top scorer with five goals and eight assists for 18 points. Michael Stickler has three goals and four assists for 10 points. Goalkeeper Brian O'Leary has played all 1,226 minutes and has allowed eight goals for a 0.58 goals against average. He has six shutouts.
A Look at the Buckeyes: Ohio State upsetted Penn State last week 1-0 and now has a 10-4-0 record and a 3-1-0 mark in the Big Ten. John Tomaino leads OSU with 19 points (six goals and seven assists), while Brooks Humphreys (5-8) and Peterson Jerome (7-4) each have 18 points. Also, Brian Feldhaus has seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Goalkeeper Kerry Thompson has a 1.19 gaa in 1,134 minutes of action and he has five shutouts.
Last Week Recap: Indiana won two Big Ten games on the road last week. The Hoosiers defeated Wisconsin 2-0, as Matt Fundenberger and Aleksey Korol each scored second-half goals.
IU then defeated Northwestern 1-0, as Yuri Lavrinenko scored on a free kick at 86:01.
MAC Finalists: Senior forward Aleksey Korol and junior back Nick Garcia are finalists for the Missouri Athletic Club's Collegiate Player of the Year.
Tough Defense: Indiana has allowed only six goals in 13 games this season and the team GAA stands at a stellar 0.45. IU has shut-out its last four opponents and nine overall.
Korol Rhymes with Goal: National Player of the Year Candidate Aleksey Korol leads IU and the Big Ten with 11 goals and six assists for 28 points. He has scored at least one point in 11 of IU's 13 matches and the Hoosiers are 10-1 when he scores a point.
Korol is now sixth on the IU all-time list with 48 career goals and his 127 career points ranks fifth.
Big Ten Dominance: The Hoosiers are now 20-1-1 in their last 22 Big Ten Conference games. Indiana last lost to a conference opponent during the Big Ten season in 1995, when it dropped a 0-2 decision at Wisconsin. That 1995 Badger squad went on to capture the NCAA Championship. The only tie came against Penn State in 1996 at 1-1. Overall, Indiana is a dominating 38-4-2 in Big Ten games (beginning in 1991).
Nine Straight Wins: After a 1-2 start, the Hoosiers have strung together a nine-game winning streak. In that stretch, IU has posted eight shutouts and allowed only three goals.
Hoosier News and Notes: Junior Matt Fundenberger has scored seven goals in the last nine matches after not netting a goal in the first three games. Fundenberger is second on the team with 18 points and he has two game-winning goals...Ryan Mack leads IU in assists with six... Goalkeepers Doug Warren and T.J. Hannig rank first and second in the Big Ten. Warren, a freshman, leads the conference with a 0.33 goals-against-average. Hannig ranks second in the Big Ten with a 0.58 GAA and first with 4.5 shutouts...The Hoosiers have scored 32 goals for the year, with 19 of them coming in the second half.
FANtastic Attendance: Through Indiana's first six games, 14,414 fans have passed through the Bill Armstrong Stadium turnstiles for an average of 2,402 fans per game.
Hoosiers Named All-American: Soccer America released preseason All-American teams and three Indiana players made the first team. Nick Garcia, Aleksey Korol and Yuri Lavrinenko made the 11-player list.
Next Up: The Hoosiers travel to Miami, Fla. to participate in the FIU/Bell South Soccer Classic next weekend. Indiana plays Florida International on Oct. 29 (Fri.) at 7:30 p.m. and James Madison on Oct. 31 at 12:30 p.m.
