INDIANA LOSES TO NO. 2 PENN STATE
UNIVERSITY PARK, Penn. - Indiana's volleyball team dropped a three-game match on the road to No. 2 Penn State 6-15, 9-15, 10-15 Saturday evening at Rec Hall.
The Hoosiers (10-3 overall, 1-3 Big Ten) fought a tough match against the Penn State Nittany Lions (14-1 overall, 4-0 Big Ten). Indiana played well, but the difference in the match was Indiana's 26 errors to Penn State's nine. The Hoosiers did compete at the net as they tallied 46 kills to Penn State's 45.
Freshman Hillary Toivonen led the Hoosiers with 13 kills on 25 attempts for a .400 attack percentage. Amanda Welter came up with 10 kills for the night to help the Hoosiers.
"We fought and we battled tonight," said Katie Weismiller.
" We played much better tonight than we did against Ohio State. Penn
State is tough, but we came out and competed. We need to work on some areas,
but I was pleased with how we played."
The Hoosiers will be back in action Friday, October 8 as they host the
Wisconsin Badgers at 7 pm in University Gymnasium.
