INDIANA LOSES TO WISCONSIN
MADISON, Ind. - Indiana's Volleyball team was defeated on the road by Wisconsin 7-15, 4-15, 15-7, 4-15 Saturday evening at the Wisconsin Field House.
After this weekend's play, the Hoosiers are now 14-7 overall and 5-7 in Big Ten play. Wisconsin's record improved to 15-7 overall and 8-4 in the Big Ten.
Freshman Hillary Toivonen led the Hoosiers with 19 kills and a .226 attack percentage. Other players adding to Indiana's attack were Ryann Connors with 13 kills and Amanda Welter with 10 kills. Jill Mudge played solid at the net as she contributed six block assists and one block solo.
As a team, Indiana compiled a .122 attack percentage while the Badgers posted a .305 attack percentage. Wisconsin out-dug the Hoosiers 82 to 67 which was a factor in the outcome of the match.
"We struggled offensively," said Katie Weismiller. "We had 37 hitting errors which highlighted the rest of the match. During the course of the match, our passing broke down which really hurt us offensively. Wisconsin played very well overall. We shut down a couple of their key players, but others stepped up for them."
The Hoosiers will be back in action Friday, November 5 as they host Penn
State at 7 p.m. in the University Gym in Bloomington.
