RANDLE EL WINS CONFERENCE HONORS

Bloomington, Ind. -- Indiana sophomore quarterback Antwaan Randle El has received numerous accolades for his performance this past Saturday vs. Illinois. The 5-10, 191-pound, Riverdale, Illinois, product earned Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors from the Big Ten Conference and was recognized as the national player-of-the-week by CNN/Sports Illustrated and the USA Today. Randle El accounted for 422 total yards in a 34-31 overtime win over Illinois. In the second biggest comeback in IU football history (IU trailed 28-7 with less than 5:00 minutes remaining in the third quarter), Randle El rushed 37 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns and completed 17 of 30 passes for 265 yards and one score. On a drive that closed Illinois' lead to 28-14, Randle El accounted for 100 yards of total offense on the 80-yard drive (gained more than 80 yards because penalties actually made the drive more than 80 yards).
Randle El has rushed for 519 yards and nine touchdowns and has completed 70 of 126 passes for 983 yards and eight scores. He is on pace (2,163 passing, 1,142 rushing pace) to become the first player in college football history to pass for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. Only one player, SW Louisiana's Brian Mitchell (an NFL Pro Bowler), has ever rushed for 1,000 yards and passed for 1,500 in a single season in the history of college football.
