Ogunleye Named to Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List

Bloomington, Ind. -- The Football Writers Association of America today named Indiana senior defensive end Adewale Ogunleye (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) to its watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded to the best defensive player in college football.
The awards recipient will be announced on Dec. 6 in Charlotte, N.C., at a gala banquet which will be hosted by the Charlotte Touchdown Club. Florida State coach Bobby Bowden will be the keynote speaker. Five finalists will be announced in late November.

One of the nation's top defensive players, Ogunleye was recognized as a preseason All-America by numerous publications including Playboy. He is fifth in Big Ten history in sacks (33-236 in losses) and sixth in Conference history in tackles for loss (62-309). In 1999, Ogunleye has tallied 20 tackles, including 6.5 sacks and 9 tackles for loss. He has also forced two fumbles. Just this past week he recorded four tackles for loss, including three sacks, and one forced fumble vs. Illinois.
