COACH SAM CARMICHAEL HONORED BY INDIANA PGA

Sam Carmichael, head coach of the women's golf team, has been named Professional of the Year by the Indiana PGA. While at Indiana, Carmichael has created a winning tradition. He has coached nine Big Ten Championship teams as well as nine top 20 finishes at the NCAA Championships. Carmichael has been awarded Big Ten Coach of the Year seven times, Regional Coach of the Year four times and was named National Coach of the Year in 1987.

Sam Carmichael was also the coach of the men's golf team from 1988-1999 while being the coach of the women's team. In 1998 he led both men's and women's golf teams to Big Ten titles while also being honored as coach of the year for each.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities Coach Carmichael has also owned the Martinsville Country Club since 1969 along with his father Don and brother Ron Carmichael.
