INDIANA DROPS MATCH TO MICHIGAN STATE
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Indiana's volleyball team dropped the first match of the weekend Friday night to the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing. The Spartans defeated the Hoosiers in four games 15-12, 11-15, 8-15, 12-15. The Hoosiers are now 16-10 overall and 7-10 in Big Ten play as Michigan State improved their record to 19-10 overall and 9-8 in league action.
Junior outside hitter Amanda Welter led the Hoosiers with 16 kills on the night. Other Hoosiers adding double figure kills were Ryann Connors with 15 and Hillary Toivonen with 12.
As a team, the Hoosiers tallied an attack percentage of .154 while the Spartans combined for a .264 attack percentage on the night. Another difference on the night came at the net for the Hoosiers as the Spartans compiled 18 total team blocks to Indiana's eight.
"We played very well and aggresively until the end of the match," said Katie Weismiller. "We were in the game and played better than the final stats show. Towards the end of the match, our passing broke down and we weren't as aggresive offensively which made a big difference. Overall, we played a great match."
The Hoosiers will take on the Michigan Wolverines tomorrow night November 20 at Ann Arbor, Mich. in the Cliff Keen Arena. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
