HOOSIERS OFF UNTIL BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Game Data: Number three-ranked Indiana (14-3-0, 5-0-0) has a first round bye at the Big Ten Tournament at East Lansing, Mich.
Indiana Head Coach Jerry Yeagley...is in his 27th year at Indiana and is the winningest coach in collegiate soccer history. He has a career record of 471-83-37. Yeagley has led the Hoosiers to NCAA national titles in 1982, 1983, 1988, and 1998, 12 Final Four appearances and seven Big Ten titles.
Hoosiers In the Polls: Indiana is number three in the Soccer America Top 20 and is number five in the NSCCA/adidas Top 25.
Last Week Recap: Indiana went 1-1 at the FIU/BellSouth Classic. The Hoosiers defeated Florida International 1-0 in overtime as Aleksey Korol scored on a pass from Matt Fundenberger at 95:16.
The Hoosiers were defeated by James Madison 2-0. It was only the second time this season that IU has been shut out.
Korol and Nick Garcia were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Ironic ending: After losing to James Madison to end the regular season, IU hopes to be as successful as it was in 1998. Last year Indiana lost to U.C.L.A. on the road in its last regular season game and then won the Big Ten Championship and its fourth national title.
Korol Rhymes with Goal: National Player of the Year Candidate Aleksey Korol leads IU and the Big Ten with 13 goals and eight assists for 34 points. His eight assists is tied with Ryan Mack for team-high honors.
Korol is now sixth on the IU all-time list with 50 career-goals and his 133 career-points rank fifth.
Fundenberger: Junior forward Matt Fundenberger scored his second career hat trick with three goals vs. Kentucky. He previously netted three goals as a freshman in 1997 vs. Rhode Island.
For the year, Fundenberger is second on team with 10 goals (six assists) for 26 points, which ranks third in the Big Ten.
His 25 career goals is the 19th-best mark in IU history.
Big Ten Dominance: With a perfect 5-0 mark in Big Ten play this season, it marks the third straight year (fourth overall in nine seasons) that the Hoosiers have completed conference play with an unblemished record.

The Hoosiers have also won the Big Ten Championship seven times out of eight. IU won in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995 (shared with Wisconsin), 1996, 1997, and 1998.
Last year, Indiana defeated Wisconsin 4-0 and Penn State 1-0 in overtime to win its seventh title.
IU is now 21-1-1 in their last 23 Big Ten Conference games. Indiana last lost to a conference opponent during the Big Ten season in 1995, when it dropped a 0-2 decision at Wisconsin. That 1995 Badger squad went on to capture the NCAA Championship. The only tie came against Penn State in 1996 at 1-1. Overall, Indiana is a dominating 39-4-2 in Big Ten games (beginning in 1991).
Indiana vs. Ranked Teams in 1999: Indiana sports a 3-1-0 mark vs. nationally ranked teams. IU defeated #2 Maryland 1-0, lost to #18 Saint Louis 1-0 in overtime, defeated #1 ranked Penn State 4-2, and defeated #19 Ohio State 2-1. All four of those games have been in Bloomington.
13-match winning string cut: After a 1-2 start, the Hoosiers won their next 13 matches, before losing to James Madison. During the winning streak, IU posted nine shutouts and outscored the opponents 37 to six.
Hoosier News and Notes: Ryan Mack will be profiled in an upcoming issue of Soccer America. Mack is tied with Korol for the team lead in assists with eight and he his 10th in the Big Ten with 14 points. IU with eight...Senior Yuri Lavrinenko is ninth in the league with 15 points. Goalkeepers Doug Warren and T.J. Hannig rank first and second in the Big Ten. Warren, a freshman, leads with an 0.63 gaa, while Hannig follows at 0.66 gaa.
FANtastic Attendance: During Indiana's eight-game home schedule this year, 17,325 fans passed through the Bill Armstrong Stadium turnstiles for an average of 2,166 fans per game.
Hoosiers Named All-American: Soccer America released preseason All-American teams and three Indiana players made the first team. Nick Garcia, Aleksey Korol and Yuri Lavrinenko made the 11-player list.
NCAA Selection Show: The 1999 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship Bracket will be announced during a selection show on Monday, Nov. 15, from 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (EST) from Indianapolis. There are two ways to watch the show. The first is through a DSS dish on Empire Sports or Home Team Sports or on regular satellite dish with coordinates at Galaxy 6, Transponder 11. The downlink frequency is 3920 MHz (H). The audio frequency will be sent 6.2/6.8 mixed program.
