Eight Indiana Players Earn All-Big Ten Accolades HAGAN EARNS FIRST-TEAM HONORS
Bloomington, Ind. -- The Big Ten Conference today announced its all-conference teams for the 1999 season. Eight Indiana players earned All-Big Ten accolades, including senior punter Drew Hagan who earned first-team honors from the media and second-team honors from the coaches. Sophomore quarterback Antwaan Randle El, who was the second-team signal caller as voted by both the coaches and the media, and senior defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, who earned second-team honors from the coaches, were also selected.
"I was very pleased to see that a good number of our players received all-conference recognition," said head coach Cam Cameron. "I was especially pleased to see Adewale earn All-Big Ten honors despite missing five games because of injury. He was on his way to All-America honors prior to the injury and certainly deserved to be recognized."
Indiana has become one of the nation's best at producing kickers and punters. Hagan becomes the sixth Indiana kicker or punter this decade to earn first or second-team All-Big Ten honors. Hagan led the conference and set the school record in punting with a 44.8 average. Kicker Andy Payne earned honorable mention honors.
