FIELD, LEVIN ADVANCE TO MAIN DRAW AT ITA MIDWEST REGIONAL
Columbus, OH - The women's tennis team competed in qualifying action today at the ITA Midwest Region Championships today. Amanda Field advanced in singles to the main draw beginning tomorrow, while Field along with J.J. Levin advanced in doubles.
Field easily defeated Purdue's Melissa Iqbal 6-1,6-0 to advance to the main draw. She will take on the 2nd-seeded Jennifer Embry of Purdue at tomorrow.
Field and Levin advance to the main draw in doubles be winning two matches today. After receiving a first round bye, they defeated Julie Beekman and Susie Miller of Ball State 9-8(4) and then were victorious over Lindsey Green and Kelly Zalinski of Notre Dame 8-6. They will face Mainhard and Maria Pandele of Detroit Mercy tomorrow in first round action.
Levin lost her chance at the main draw in singles, as she fell to Notre Dame's Sarah Scaringe 6-1,6-1.
In doubles, Zahra Ahamed and Karie Schlukebir won their opening round match over Ohio State's Michelle Matko and Sadhaf Pervez 8-5. They lost in the final round to Christine DiMasi and Julia Sapoznikova of Marquette 8-2.
The Hoosiers will back on the court tomorrow as they begin play in the
main draw. Singles matches will begin the day at 9 am for the Hoosiers and
they end the day with doubles starting at 9 pm.
