MEN'S TENNIS STILL ALIVE IN DOUBLES
Madison, WI - The men's tennis team completed the second day of competion at the ITA Region IV Championships today. Hoosier players lost both singles matches that they were involved in, but are still alive in doubles after Milan Rakvica and Rahman Smiley won two matches on the day.
Rakvica and Smiley opened the day by upsetting the 7th-ranked team of Javier Taborga and Aaron Talarico 8-6. In the third round, they knocked off DePaul's Andy Michael and Rory McKinney 8-6. They will face Joost Hol and Brad Erickson of Northwestern tomorrow in the quarterfinals.
In singles, the Hoosiers were not as successful, as they dropped both matches. Rakvica lost in a third-set tiebreaker to Ohio State's Chris Porter 3-6,6-4,7-6(9). Rakvica was up 6-2 in the tiebreaker, but was unable to hold on to the lead. Ian Arons dropped his match to Notre Dame's Taborga 6-0,6-4.
