Snyder Wins Prestigious Academic Competition
Bloomington, Ind. -- On Saturday, February 20, a group of five Indiana University business school students, including senior center Matt Snyder, won the Indiana Honors Case Seminar that was presented by Deloitte&Touche, the third-largest global accounting firm.
The competition, which featured five teams of accounting students from Indiana University, asked each team to present an answer to a complex accounting case. The winning team, which consisted of Snyder, Jacques Theodas, Jill Gentry, Lesley Blacketer, and Josh Gehring will now advance to the national competition in Scottsdale, Ariz., on April 9-11. The competition will feature teams from seven of the finest business schools in the country including Indiana, Notre Dame and California-Berkeley.
Snyder, who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.42, was selected to the 1998 GTE Academic All-District V Football Team. He started 11 games at guard last season and helped lead an offense that averaged 195.5 rushing yards per contest. He will return for his senior season this fall and is expected to challenge for Academic All-America accolades.
