HOOSIERS COMPETE WELL AT USAT&F CHAMPIONSHIPS
Bloomington, Indiana -- The Hoosiers had only a few track athletes compete at the Indiana USA Track and Field Championships held at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse Friday, but those that did compete were impressive.
IU sophomores Maria Fleischmann and Jennifer Brown put on impressive performances in the triple jump and shot put, respectively. Fleischmann reset her own school record by reaching 12.45m (40-10 1/4) in the triple jump. Brown moved into second on IU's all-time shot put list with a throw of 16.07m (52-8 3/4). That shot also places her sixth in the NCAA this season and is just three centimeters off the NCAA automatic qualifying mark.
The Hoosiers also won three other events: sophomore Lorraine Dunlop won the 60m in 7.54, senior Traci Knudsen ran a 5:05.50 to win the mile, and junior LaToya Turner took the 60m hurdles in 8.56.
Next Meet: The Hoosiers that qualify will compete at the NCAA
Championships March 5-6 at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana.
