Hoosiers Slam Their Way Past Pittsburgh9-1 Victory Opens Three-Game Series
Bloomington, Ind.- Blake St. Claire's fourth-inning grand slam homerun was all the Hoosiers needed as they defeated Pittsburgh 9-1 today at Sembower Field.
Senior hurler Chad Smith threw five innings of shutout ball in route to his second victory of the season. Senior Jason Torres pitched the final four innings to pick up his first save of the season.
The Hoosiers (3-0) took control in the first inning after a Doug Devore double, which scored Dan Haegle. Devore continued his hitting onslaught with his fourth homerun of the season, a two-run shot to left in the third.
The Hoosiers will continue their series with Pittsburgh tomorrow at noon from Sembower Field.
