Hoosiers Defeat Iowa On Senior Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ Rob Turner scored 20 points Saturday as No. 20 Indiana beat No. 18 Iowa 88-81 and earned a first-round bye in next week's Big Ten Conference tournament.
The Hoosiers (22-9, 9-7) had lost five straight games to the Hawkeyes (18-8, 9-7) and had to rally from a 14-point deficit in the first half of their regular-season finale.
Turner had 14 points in the opening period, including two straight 3-pointers that helped cut the Iowa lead to 41-40 at the break. A basket by Larry Richardson at the start of the second half gave Indiana its first lead, and there were 10 lead changes before a 3-pointer by Luke Recker put the Hoosiers in front for good.
A 3-pointer by A.J. Guyton, who scored all of his 14 points in the second half, gave Indiana a 71-65 lead with six minutes to go. Then after a basket by William Gladness, Indiana got its next 13 points on free throws.
The Hoosiers' biggest lead was at 77-67 after Guyton made one of two free throws on a technical foul on the Hawkeyes bench. Iowa wasn't finished, though, and a 3-pointer by J.R. Koch, baskets by Jess Settles and Koch and one of two free throws by Koch pulled the Hawkeyes within 80-79 with a minute to go.
Michael Lewis, Guyton and Gladness each hit two free throws, and Recker, who finished with 19 points, ended the game with a fast-break slam dunk.
Iowa, which also gets a first-round tourney bye next week, was led by Settles with 23 points and Koch with 18.
Indiana never led in the first half, and the Hoosiers fell behind 37-23 after a pair of free throws by Koch finished a 12-4 Iowa run.
Indiana then held the Hawkeyes scoreless for the next four minutes and pulled within 37-34 on four straight free throws by Recker. Settles ended Indiana's 11-point run, but a 3-pointer by Turner brought the Hoosiers within two.
Settles scored again, but another 3-pointer by Turner with 13 seconds left pulled Indiana within 41-40 at the half.
