Bloomington, Ind. -- It was announced today that the Indiana football program has implemented a partnership with Indiana businesses that will help provide football tickets to charities throughout the area. A direct-mail campaign to area merchants will kick off the program.
"We are very excited about the implementation of this partnership," said head coach Cam Cameron. "There is a tremendous amount of interest in the IU football program and this partnership is an outstanding way for our football program and Indiana businesses to give something back to the community. As I see it, everyone involved should benefit from this program. We are focusing on the Bloomington community but we will look at extending the program throughout the state. What we really want to create is an opportunity for merchants to begin a positive relationship with a charity of its choice."
THIS is Indiana! "Indiana Businesses and Indiana Football -- A Partnership Making the State of Indiana Better One Game at a Time," is the name of the program. It allows area merchants an opportunity to provide Indiana University football tickets to charitable organizations. Merchants are asked to purchase at least (6) single-game football tickets to any game/games of its choice. The merchant is then encouraged to give the tickets to a charity, school, or church with whom it wishes to begin a relationship. In return, the merchant receives mention on the Memorial Stadium video board at every home game (new video boards will be installed prior to the 1999 season) and is included on a list of participating merchants in a Bloomington Herald-Times advertisement and in the 1999 media guide. Merchants will also be entered in a drawing to win a trip for two to travel with the team to a road game during the 1999 season.
