BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana volleyball head coach Katie Weismiller announced today the hiring of Anne Kordes as the program's new assistant coach. Kordes replaces former assistant Jody Dascoli who left to pursue other career opportunities.
Kordes, a native of Louisville, Ky., will be responsible for a number of administrative functions at IU, including team travel, equipment and recruiting.
Kordes is currently the head coach for the 18 and under Kentuckiana Junior Volleyball program.
Prior to that, Kordes was a two-year starting setter for the University of Louisville where last fall she helped lead the Cardinals to a 29-5 record and a No. 21 national ranking. As a senior she amassed 1,067 assists, earning third team All-Conference USA honors. As a junior, she was also a third team All-Conference USA selection, averaging 10.3 assists per game.
Kordes began her collegiate career with a two-year stint at Cincinnati before transferring to Louisville in 1996. At Cincinnati, she was named Great Midwest Newcomer of the Year her freshman season and was a second team All-Conference USA selection as a sophomore after setting the school single-season record with 1,575 assists.
"Anne will bring a lot of energy to our program," said Weismiller. "She has been involved with the sport since she was six years old and has excelled at every level from club to collegiate volleyball. We look forward to her joining us."
