March 7, 1999
Bloomington, Ind.-The Indiana Hoosiers earned the No. 6 seed in the
South Regional of the 1999 NCAA Tournament earlier this evening. They will
take on George Washington from the Atlantic 10 Conference.
The game will be played on Thursday, March 11 at the Orlando Arena in Orlando,
Fla. The time of the game will not be determined until Monday, March 8.
Several members of the Indiana basketball team reacted to their No. 6 seed
and their first round match-up against George Washington.
Luke Recker
"Obviously we're happy. It is a second chance for us to come in
there and show them what we can do. George Washington is a solid ballclub
and have a great player in Shawnta Rogers. It is going to be tough, but
we can prepare all week and get ready for the tournament." |
Michael Lewis
"We have a tough opponent in the first round in George Washington.
They are a very competitive basketball team. There aren't going to be any
easy basketball games for us. We have to come ready to play each any every
game in the tournament." |
Kirk Haston
"It is an improvement from last year's bracket (Indiana was seeded
No. 7). It gives us an opportunity to make up for a disappointing Big Ten
Tournament. Personally, this is always what I wanted to do. This is why
I came to IU to play basketball and compete in the NCAA Tournament." |
