INDIANA DIVERS COMPETE IN NCAA DIVING ZONES
WHAT'S HAPPENING: The members of the Indiana Diving team will compete in the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships this weekend March 12-13 at the Counsilman/Billingsley Aquatics Center. The schedule of events is as follows:
Friday, March 12 Start time 11 a.m.
Women's 1-meter/Men's 3-meter
Saturday, March 13 Start time 11 a.m.
Men's 1-meter/Women's 3-meter
Men's & Women's Platform (4 p.m. start)
DOMINATING INDIANA: The Indiana divers dominated the Big Ten Championships over the last two weeks. Combining both the men's and women's results, IU racked up three first places, three second places, and one third. In total, IU diving grabbed 15 top-seven finishes at Big Tens.
FRESHMAN FRENZY: Freshman Sara Reiling stepped right where Erin Quinn left after her freshman season. This year Sara Reiling took the one-meter and ten-meter victories at Big Ten earning All-Big Ten honors. Last season, as a freshman, Erin Quinn placed second on both one-meter and three-meter while winning the ten-meter to secure All-Big Ten honors.
AWARDS FOR EVERYONE: For the third straight season, head coach Dr. Jeff Huber was named Diving Coach of the Year. Senior Mike Collier wrapped up a three-peat of the Diver of the Year honor while freshman Sara Reiling was named All-Big Ten after her performance at the Big Ten Championships.
AFTER ZONES: Several member of the IU swimming and diving team will compete in the 1999 NCAA Championships within the next two weeks. The women travel to Athens, Georgia (University of Georgia) March 18-20. The qualifying members of the men's team wait one week later to stay closer to home. The IUPUI natatorium hosts the 1999 Men's NCAA Championships March 25-27.
