IU IN THIRD PLACE AFTER FIRST DAY OF INDIANA INVITATIONAL

BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The Indiana University women's golf team is in third place after the first two rounds of the 1999 Indiana Invitational. The Hoosiers fired a first day total of 628 (320-308), leaving them just four strokes behind leader Purdue, 624 (311-313). IU's second round of 308 is the tournament low to this point.
While IU did not have one stand-out player today, all five Hoosiers are in the top 20. Tied for 10th are Theresa McDermott, 157 (82-75) and Michelle Hatfield, 157 (79-78). McDermott's round of one over-par 75, is also the lowest round of the tournament. Seniors Erin Carney, 158 (80-78) and Jennifer Seger, 158 (79-79) are tied for 13th, and freshman Tiffany Fisher is tied for 16th with a score of 159 (82-77).
The tournament will conclude tomorrow with 18 holes to be played beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
