HOOSIERS CAPTURE SECOND STRAIGHT INDIANA INVITATIONAL
BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The Indiana University women's golf team won its second consecutive Indiana Invitational. The Hoosiers battled winds up to 40 miles per hour and fired a tournament low round of 306, giving the team a two day, three-round total of 934 (320-308-306). That total was good enough for a three stroke victory over Ohio State, 937 (314-311-312).
For the second straight day, all five IU golfers played well, resulting in five top-20 finishes. Senior Erin Carney, 233 (80-78-75) led the way with an impressive round of one over-par 75, leaving her tied for fifth place at 11 over-par.
At the end of regulation, three players, Lisa Strom of Ohio State, 231 (76-76-79), Natalie Mosher of Ohio State, 231 (76-79-76), and Kristi Weichert of Minnesota, 231 (79-75-77), were tied for the lead. Strom won the tournament on the second playoff hole.
