HOOSIERS LOSE AT BALL STATE
Muncie, Indiana -- The Indiana Softball team suffered a tough one-run loss at Ball State Tuesday.
IU (16-23, 3-5 Big Ten) scored first when sophomore Erica Del Toro ripped a triple down the right field line to score senior Jaime Thedford and junior Teresa Martinez in the top of the second. Del Toro's hit was not enough as the Cardinals (14-25) scored one run in the bottom of the second, third, and fourth innings to capture the 3-2 win.
Four of the Hoosiers seven hits were for extra bases. Besides Del Toro's triple, juniors Staci Meek and Sheri Savko as well as freshman Brooke Monroe hit doubles. Monroe leads IU with nine doubles.
The Hoosiers head to Notre Dame Wednesday for a twin bill at 2 p.m.
