Carpenter's three goals lead IU past Badgers
Bloomington, Ind.--The Indiana Women's Water Polo team handed Wisconsin its second loss of the weekend, en route to a 9-3 victory over the Badgers in the morning matches of the 1999 Holiday Inn/Tortilla Flat Indiana Invitational. With the victory, the Hoosiers improved their record to 12-12.
The Hoosiers were led by sophomore Kristin Carpenter's three goals. Carpenter's first came mid-way through the first period while the other two came early in the second. With 6:18 to play in the second quarter, Carpenter scored. Less than 20 seconds later, with 5:59 left in the period, she got the hat trick.
IU also used goals from five other players, including two from freshman Jamie Polowy.
In the other morning match, Michigan defeated Michigan State in overtime, 4-3.
