MEN'S GOLF TEAM FINISHES EIGHTH AT JOHNNY OWENS
LEXINGTON, KEN. - The Indiana University men's golf team finished eighth at the Johnny Owens Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky. After yesterday's first two rounds of consecutive 302's, the Hoosiers finished strong with final round of 300, giving them a total of 904. Miami (Ohio) was the team winner with a three day total of 880 (204-291-295).
The Hoosiers were led by Steve Wheatcroft, who finished tied for 13th overall. Wheatcroft opened the tournament with solid rounds of 72 and 74, and performed well enough today, shooting 74, to keep him in the top 20 with a score of 220, four-over-par. Steve Dixon of Xavier was the individual winner, shooting an impressive five-under-par 211.
The Hoosiers next travel to Huntington, West Virginia to compete in the Marshall Invitational Friday and Saturday, April 9 and 10.
