IU TO HOST INDIANA INVITATIONAL
Tournament Data: The Indiana University women's golf team will host the 1999 Indiana Invitational, Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11. The tournament will be held at Indiana University's Championship Golf Course, a par-72, 5,661 yard layout. The format will be 36 holes on Saturday and the final 18 on Sunday with a shotgun start on both days beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The Teams: (13) Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio University, Ohio State, Purdue, Southern Illinois, Wisconsin.
The Hoosiers: Last week the Hoosiers were in Athens, Georgia for the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic. IU finished sixth with a total score of 927 (310-313-304). Senior Erin Carney led the Hoosiers with fifth place finish and a score of 221 (76 75-72), four over-par.
Freshman Tiffany Fisher also turned in a strong performance, finishing tied for 31st place with a three-round total of 235 (75-83-77), 16 over-par.
At this week's Indiana Invitational, IU will be defending its title from
last year. In 1998, the Hoosiers cruised to a 29 storke victory over Ohio
State, with three Hoosiers finishing in the top 10. IU's Jennifer Seger
was the overall winner, with Erin Carney finishing second. Jenny Gray was
the other Hoosier in the top 10, coming in tied for seventh.
