Bloomington, Indiana -- The Indiana Softball team swept Ohio State with 5-4 and 6-2 wins at the IU Softball Field Wednesday.
In the first game, IU (15-20, 2-3 Big Ten) held off a Buckeye (10-18, 0-5 Big Ten) rally in the seventh to preserve the 5-4 victory. The Hoosiers built the 5-0 lead with four runs in the bottom of fifth, all with two outs. Junior Staci Meek delivered the big hit with a three-run triple to left-center. Then Meek scored on a hit up the middle by freshman Brooke Monroe. IU freshman Alison Cooke improved to 7-6 and junior Teresa Martinez pitched the last out for her second save.
In the second game, IU scored three in the first on the way to a 6-2 win. The Hoosiers scored the first two on a double by Monroe to right-center field. Then junior Sheri Savko ripped a single down the left field line to drive in Monroe. Martinez (7-7) spread eight hits during the game to pitch her 12th complete game of the season.
