CHORNY AND KEIR QUALIFY FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Bloomington, Indiana -- IU senior Tom Chorny and freshman Krista Keir qualified for the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held at Boise State University June 2-5.
Chorny (Fruitport, Michigan - Fruitport H.S.) is ranked third nationally with a time of 8:37.18 in the 3,000m steeplechase. His qualifying run came in his victory at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia April 22nd. The 3,000m steeplechase starts at 7:10 p.m. (MT) Thursday June 3rd.
Keir (Westerville, Ohio - South H.S.) qualified 19th with a mark of 52.46m (172-1) in the discus. Her qualifying throw won the Indiana Big Four meet April 3rd. Keir won five of eight meets, and was the top collegiate in one other. The women's discus begins at 6:15 p.m. (MT) Saturday June 5th.
