IU ASSISTANT COACH PROMOTED
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University's women's basketball coach Jim Izard has announced the promotion of Jennifer Jacoby to recruiting assistant coach, replacing Renee Reed who left IU last month to take a similar position at the University of Illinois.
Jacoby, who begins her second year with the Hoosier basketball program, spent last season coordinating on-campus recruiting, film exchange and working with IU's guards. Her new responsibilities will include several administrative functions in addition to recruiting, coaching the perimeter players and scouting the opponents.
A native of Rossville, Ind., Jacoby played professionally for two years for the American Basketball League's (ABL) Portland Power. Prior to that, the former 1991 Indiana Miss Basketball played for four years (1991-95) at Purdue University, where she led the Boilermakers to two Big Ten Championship titles (1994, 1995), a NCAA Final Four appearance in 1994 and an Elite Eight showing in 1995. As a two-year starting point guard, Jacoby was named Team MVP two years and was a second-team All-Big Ten selection. She completed her career holding the Purdue 3-point shooting record with 157 treys and amassed 427 assists and 785 points.
"I am excited about this new opportunity," said Jacoby. "To now be able to get out on the road and recruit for Indiana University means a lot to me. I am also looking forward to next season. We have a good class coming in to go along with the quality players who are already here and I am looking forward to getting back in the gym and on the court with this team."
