CONNORS SELECTED TO 1999 PRESEASON ALL-BIG TEN TEAM
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior volleyball player Ryann Connors has been selected to the 1999 Preseason All-Big Ten Team the Big Ten Conference announced today.
Connors, a native of Oak Lawn, Ill., is one of six members of the 1998 All-Big Ten Team to headline the 1999 preseason team.
A 5-11 outside hitter, Connors helped lead the Hoosiers to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season, averaging 4.55 kills per game.
She was also named AVCA National Player of the Week as well as Big Ten Player of the Week during the season.
Entering her senior campaign, Connors is ranked seventh all-time for career kills with 1,157 and needs just 230 more to take over the school's top spot.
The Conference office also announced that Penn State, the 1998 NCAA Volleyball finalist, was unanimously chosen to repeat as league champions in 1999 in a vote by the Conference head coaches. Penn State has won or shared the last three Big Ten volleyball titles and finished as NCAA runner-up in 1997 and 1998.
Wisconsin was picked to finish second while Illinois was chosen third. The Hoosiers, who tied Ohio State for fifth-place last season in the final league standings, was picked to finish seventh.
