SIX PLAYERS EARN FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIPS

Bloomington, Ind. -- Head football coach Cam Cameron today announced that six Indiana University football players have earned scholarships for the 1999 season. The six include: sophomore linebacker/defensive end Herman Fowler (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) sophomore long snapper Colin Frost (Indianapolis/Lawrence Central), fifth-year senior linebacker Pat Kraft, fifth-year senior linebacker Vince Lidy (Newburgh, Ind./Castle), junior center Patrick Mallory, and redshirt freshman defensive tackle Shane Moat (Bloomington, Ind./South).
"Walk-ons will always be an important facet of our football program," said head coach Cam Cameron. "I am very pleased that we are able to recognize these young men by offering them scholarships. We fully expect that all six will continue to contribute to our success."
Of the six, Frost, Kraft, Lidy, and Mallory have seen game action.
Frost played in 11 games as the team's long snapper on punts in 1998 and recorded three tackles.
A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Lidy has played in 27 career games and has one career start (Ball State; 9/13/97).
Kraft played primarily on special teams last fall while appearing in 11 games. He was on the field for 113 special teams snaps and tallied two tackles.
Pat Mallory saw his only playing time in a 48-14 win over Cincinnati on September 26, 1998.
