HOOSIERS BEGIN CROSS COUNTRY SEASON
Meet Information: Indiana hosts the Indiana Open at the IU Cross Country Course Friday September 3. The 7k race begins at 4:30 p.m.
The Indiana Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will open up the season this Friday in Bloomington when it hosts the Indiana Open. Indiana will be competing against Eastern Illinois. This is a big year for the team since it will be hosting the NCAA Championships on November 22. For the men's team to be a top contenders at the championship meet they will be relying heavily on some of their returners. Key runners this year are Tom Chorny, Chris Ekman and Aaron Gillen. "The big thing for us this year is to make the NCAA Nationals. Our season goal is geared towards that. Tom Chorny will be establishing himself this year in cross country and we are confident in our recruiting class that is the top ten in the nation, If we can stay healthy, and be patient I can't see why we would not be consistent winners," commented Coach Robert Chapman.
