Providence, R.I. - The no. 3 ranked Indiana Hoosiers needed to win after losing yesterday 2-1 to Yale at the Brown Addidas Classic, and that's exactly what they did.
"Today was gut check time, this game determined our character," said head coach Jerry Yeagley.
Matt Fundenberger scored Indiana's first goal at 7:39 on a cross by Ryan Mack. At the 13:58 mark Aleksey Korol had a breakaway goal assisted by Lavrinenko Yuri. Within two minutes I.U. had back to back corner kicks and scored on both corners. Sophomore Ryan Mack served the corner to junior Tyler Hawley who headed in both goals, one at the 15:50 mark and the other at 18:33. Indiana finished out the first period with their fifth and final goal by Marcus Chorvat who scored while the goalie was out of the box.
"Brown is known for their defense. The last thing I expected was a 5-0 result and a 5-0 score at the half," said coach Jerry Yeagley.
